Here I am, doing a thing. Writing about writing.
Despite a lot of mental resistance, I am doing this because I think it’s useful to me, I will enjoy it (once past the resistance), and I may have some good ideas going on.
The resistance is strong though. I question the value of what I’m doing and my ability to do it. And where it will go: why start when you don’t know the destination. But I think doing the writing, especially about how to understand this mental block, is the way to break through the resistance.
It’s a step on from writing in my notebooks, which I am very comfortable doing. The potentially public nature of writing digitally, where it’s so much easier to share, raises the stakes. But digital has many advantages, that I want to leverage. Typing is far faster than handwriting; editing is easier. Both can be handy or a problem.
However, the act of writing the words above is a way to channel the positives and proof that this mental resistance isn’t unconquerable.
